Toronto.Works exists for one reason: trades businesses in Toronto lose more revenue to unfilled seats than to almost anything else, and very few marketing firms treat hiring as their job. We do. We plan and run the marketing that helps you hire technicians, installers and apprentices, and we advise owners on the business decisions around it.
What we are, and what we are not
The short answer: a recruiting-marketing and business consulting service. We write job ads, build careers pages, run recruiting campaigns and help you market an apprenticeship program.
We are not a contractor. We don't install, repair or service anything, and we don't dispatch crews. We are also not a recruiter, staffing firm or temporary help agency. We don't place workers, we don't employ anyone on your behalf, and we never charge job seekers. Ontario regulates recruiters and temporary help agencies separately, and the employment standards guide has a chapter on that licensing if it applies to a vendor you are considering.
Nor do we give legal or HR advice. Where rules matter, such as the 2026 job posting requirements, we link the official source and build your materials so the required items have a clear home. Your lawyer, HR adviser or the Ministry answers questions about your obligations.
The group behind the site
Toronto.Works is part of the Sedighi.ca and SAZ.ca group of companies. It is a Canadian business, headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, serving clients across the country.
- Sedighi.ca is the vehicle for Ali Sedighi's own consulting in growth, marketing and technology. Trades.Agency, HVAC.Agency, HVAC.Digital, BusinessConsulting.ca and Conv.ca are among its brands.
- SAZ.ca, short for Strategy & Acceleration Zone, is a Canadian firm that consults on strategy, AI and revenue acceleration. Ali founded it and serves as its Founder & Managing Partner.
This site belongs to the Trades.Agency family, which handles marketing for trades and home-service businesses in Canada. Pricing follows the Trades.Agency plans described on our pricing page.
Ali Sedighi, MBA
Ali Sedighi holds an MBA in Technology Management and has more than 17 years of digital marketing experience, starting in 2007, when he founded ONE.ir, a full-service digital marketing agency. He now lives and works in Vancouver.
Later ventures include Conv.ca, an agency focused on conversion-rate optimisation, and MyAutomation.ca. He has worked with clients in Canada, the USA and Dubai, and has built 150+ live HVAC websites, including CombiBoiler.ca, Roma Heating & Cooling and HeatLand.
That HVAC background matters here. Heating and cooling companies were among the first trades to feel the technician shortage sharply, and the work of filling their schedules with customers made the hiring bottleneck impossible to ignore. The results page shows those HVAC numbers and is honest about what transfers to recruiting.
How we work
We keep the process simple and in writing:
- A first conversation. You call, text or email. We talk about the roles you need, where your yard is, and what you've tried. Eligible trades businesses get the first 30 minutes free.
- A written plan. One page: which service to start with, what we'll produce, the monthly fee, the ad budget you'd control, and what we'll measure.
- Work in your accounts. Ad accounts, job-board profiles and website pages belong to you. We work as users on your accounts, so if you leave, everything stays.
- Monthly numbers. Views, applicants, phone screens and interviews, with plain notes on what to change.
- No lock-in. Plans are month-to-month with 30 days' notice to cancel.
Principles we won't bend
- No invented numbers. We don't publish wage figures, hiring statistics or results we can't back up.
- No fake people. No stock photos posing as your crew, no made-up employee quotes or reviews.
- No discriminatory targeting or wording. We write ads that describe the work, not the worker, and we draw on the Ontario Human Rights Commission's advertising guidance.
- No hiring decisions. Candidates belong to your process. You choose who to hire.
If that sounds like the way you'd want a vendor to work, see our services or contact us to start the conversation.
Frequently asked questions
Who owns Toronto.Works?
Toronto.Works belongs to the Sedighi.ca and SAZ.ca group, whose head office is in Vancouver, British Columbia. Ali Sedighi, MBA, runs it.
Are you a licensed recruiter or a temporary help agency?
No. We don't recruit on your behalf in the sense of placing workers, and we never charge candidates. We market your company and its openings. Ontario's employment standards guide has a chapter on licensing recruiters and temporary help agencies if you need that kind of service.
Who will we actually work with?
You talk with a senior strategist from the first call. We don't hand you to a rotating junior account team.
Why should a Toronto employer work with a Vancouver-based team?
Recruiting marketing happens on job boards, ad platforms and your own website, all of which we work in daily. Local knowledge comes from your crew, your hiring history and official City data, which we use to plan every campaign.
